"Doing nothing is not a neutral act when an individual pleas for relief from the emotional misery bullying inflicts. Doing nothing is denying the person credibility as an adult. Doing nothing is sustaining the status quo and defending the perpetrator, however implicitly or indirectly. How dare HR, the primary agent responsible for implementing or blocking the employer’s response to reported bullying, side with the bully (most often in management, 73%) against the employee who naively came to HR for “help”!"

Actually briefly reading HRDM's website made me afraid because the attitudes expressed are so geared toward perpetrators of bullying they bear no resemblance to any common description of bullying I have read. This makes me think the NBH is a forum for the bully and not the target.
ReplyDeleteA lot of what I read there not only exposes the company's real attitude but is the opinion of one person - not the psychological, legal or even the targetted community at large - thank God.
This should be no further obstacle for people fighting bullying. The law and guidelines remain - contrary to what is being said, the perpetrator will twist it any which way - using the power of the courts and legal system - usually provided at the employers expense. Now they have an ally it seems.
Just make sure your confidence is invested in target friendly support.
